Xbox One Backward Compatibility
The Xbox One Backward Compatibility feature provides Xbox gamers the ability to play their beloved Xbox 360 games on their Xbox One consoles. If you are confused about what this means then rewind back to our article, Xbox One Backward Compatibility Explained. We tell you how it works and provide a list of current titles available for Backward Compatibility.
There are 104 titles on this list as we write this. It's a great time to be a gamer and with this new feature you can be a frugal gamer. A lot of these games are older Xbox 360 games that have most likely dropped in price. So read below to see which Xbox 360 games Zen and Jen recommend.
Assassin’s Creed II
This is the Assassin’s Creed title that made me fall in love with the franchise. Great story, open world environment and fun gameplay equals a ton of fun. You play as Desmond Miles who uses a device known as an animus. This allows him to relive the past from his one of ancestors though genetics. You find yourself climbing, exploring, and assassinating targets in Italy as you live through the eyes of an assassin named Ezio during the Renaissance.
Condemned: Criminal Origins
This is one of my all-time favorite survival horror games. It has been a long time since I last played this game. I remember lots of bashing of enemies with pipes and random melee weapons. You play as Ethan Thomas, who is a crime scene investigation agent with the FBI. This mixes up the game a little and you get to solve crime scenes with forensic tools. I am sure now this game might seem dated but when it came out, I had a blast (and I might have jumped a few times)!
Fable II is an open world action role-playing game. Just thinking about this game makes me smile. We will not discuss a couple of achievements that glitched on me. I may still be upset about that. I really enjoyed the story and watching my character and the town evolve as I made decisions. I must admit, I had a ton of fun being bad in this game! My main character was extremely evil. I had multiple wives and a whole host of STDs! I typically play games like this as the “good guy” but I guess sometimes you just have to let loose! I definitely recommend picking this game up. You will not be disappointed if you enjoy this genre of game.
This is a great puzzle game that came free with the Xbox 360. It is just fun and there are some tough achievements I still need to finish!
If you like platformers and enjoy laughing, this is your game. Story goes, you’ve become shipwrecked and your friends are being held prisoners by cats. Yes cats! These cats are forcing you to play in deadly theater games. There’s a ton of gameplay packed into this game and a fun multiplayer mode. It’s an all around silly game that’s a blast to play.
If you know me you know I like my “simple” games and Hexic HD is one of those. You rotate different colored hexagon pieces to match colors and clear them. Forming groups will unlock different bonuses. This game released with the original Xbox 360 Live, which also made it one of the first games I played on my original 360. It’s a great puzzle game that brings back some old memories of my first 360, the poor girl passed away back on 10/22/2010 from the RROD. I should also add, this game was designed by the same developer behind Tetris. If that doesn’t make you interested, I give up!
Earthworm Jim HD
Who doesn’t love a worm named Jim in armor that can kick some butt! The original game released back in 1994. It’s a platformer shoot ‘em up kind of game. I don’t recall playing this back on the 360, but Earthworm Jim was one of my childhood favorites to play on the Gameboy Color, and I can’t wait to try it again!
Gears Of War 1-3
Who doesn’t want to save humanity from the Locust Horde? Especially when it includes kicking some Locust booty with shottys, head popping snipers, and the beautiful chainsaw Lancer. After my first kill with Lancer chainsaw, I was in love with Gears and that love lasted for the first 3 games. I’m still not on talking terms with Judgment, but let’s just remember the good times! Many of us Girl Tribe Gaming girls spent hours in Gears and I’m looking forward to jumping back into the series.
